New York Wishlist

I’m off to New York in less than two weeks for my 21st Birthday (so excited!) and I have quite a hefty wishlist of things to try and buy! I will hopefully find a few brands that I haven’t tried yet and with a little bit of help from Mayah over at Call It Vanity (thanks!) I have found some lovely brands in Brooklyn which I have discovered has quite a few green beauty stores that I’ll try and get round to visiting! I’m going with two of my friends who don’t really care about using natural/organic brands so I’m not sure if they’ll be up for trekking around Brooklyn looking for green things but I’ll give it a go! I’ll try and convince them to buy a few products to hopefully get them to switch so I have somebody I can talk to in real life about green beauty haha!

I really want to try and find some individual, small businesses to buy products from as I run a small family business myself and times are tough at the minute so I really want to help all the indie businesses trying to make a living, making lovely natural homemade products!

The first item on my wishlist is the RMS Beauty Uncover-up. I have wanted this for months but I figured I would wait until a few of my other non-natural concealers have run out before splashing out on another one. (ahem, MAC). Plus, it’s cheaper in America ($36/Β£21.00) so this will definitely be coming home with me in my suitcase! If not, I will throw a hissy fit and demand I go back immediately. The living luminizer is coming home with me too.

Alder New York Hair Powder – I have always used Batiste dry shampoo up until a few weeks ago when I realised how much crap was in it. Since then I’ve tried to only use it for emergencies but haven’t bought a natural one because I’m saving my money for New York. Imagine my excitement when I saw this beauty on Mayah’s post on CIV.

Apotheke Co – I love the simple but cool packaging from this brand. They have some yummy sounding candles but they’ll be too heavy to come back in my suitcase so I’ll probably have a look for The Balm which is made from almond butter and is filled with anti-oxidants and is perfect for dry skin.

Bite Beauty – I saw this brand recently on Sarita’s blog and although a few of the ingredients are questionable, it looks like a fairly natural brand and the products are stocked in Sephora which is great because whilst my friends are looking at the chemical filled crap in there, I can be looking at this make-up! I love the look of the matte creme crayons!

Isa’s Restoratives – I found this Brooklyn based brand through Mayah’s post too (she’s tempting me too much!!) and the products just look so interesting. Some of their products include ingredients like vodka and poppy seeds! I love the sound of the Three Flower Astringent Spot Treatment! This brand is stocked in ABC Home, along with RMS Beauty, SW Basics, Tata Harper so I think I’ll be spending some serious dollar in here!

I’ll also be looking for any make-up products that I (obviously) need and have found a few more organic & natural stores such as The London Pharmacy & I’ll be visiting Whole Foods too!

Am I making any of you jealous yet? πŸ˜‰ I will be sure to try and tweet whilst I’m out there and will be thinking of all your green bloggers whilst I’m browsing the shelves πŸ™‚

  4. Thanks Liz! I definitely want to buy more from local businesses as quite often those are the ones that are less complicated and full of unnecessary rubbish! xx

  14. Have so much fun! I would suggest a trip to BITE Beauty's Lip Lab. I just wrote a post on it, but basically you can go there and have them design whatever lip color you want. Since I couldn't actually go to NYC, my best friend went for me, but I think a customized lipstick would be a great souvenir πŸ™‚
