Scruffy Chops Shampoo & Conditioner Review

This post is a little different to my usual beauty posts…I am reviewing a shampoo & conditioner that was sent to me for review but it wasn’t for me – it was for my dogs! I was actually sent this last year but over the Winter we send Muffin to the groomers because of the cold weather and we only got Persie at the beginning of this year so sorry that this post is so late Scruffy Chops!

Rhubarking Mad Rhubarb & Custard Shampoo* and Muddy Marvelous Dead Sea Mud Mineral Conditioner* were kindly sent to me from Scruffy Chops who are a brand that make natural shampoos and conditioners for dogs. I was thinking about when I take Muffin & Persie to the groomers and realised that whilst I have switched to natural and organic, they are still being washed with chemical filled products so I was so excited to try these products on Muffin & Persie and give them the same treatment as me!

All of their products are free from SLS, parabens and other nasties that are found in typical shampoos and conditioners. They use 98% natural ingredients and allergen-free fragrance. They include ingredients such as dead sea minerals, oatmeal and aloe vera to help keep your dog’s skin healthy, hydrated and irritant free.

Now, Muffin isn’t one for baths and this was Persie’s first time at home and he didn’t like it either. Sometimes Muffin doesn’t mind them but she wasn’t loving it in there so I tried to get her in & out as quick as I could and she does look really scared but she was fine – she is a bit of a diva and always looks away when you try & take a photo of her hence why they’re a bit blurry! They both tried to make a quick exit a few times and got me soaked but it wasn’t because of the shampoo/conditioner, they just aren’t fans of bath time!

First off, the shampoo smells so yummy! It’s rhubarb & custard scented and it’s really nice! It lathered up pretty well considering it contains no SLS and washed Muffin & Persie’s coats really well. I washed it off and then went ahead with the Dead Sea Mud Mineral Conditioner. This didn’t smell as nice as the shampoo but it wasn’t a horrible scent at all. I used one big squirt of this and it was really smoothing on their coats easy to rub in and wash off.

Overall result: Their coats were shiny and smooth and afterwards they both smelt really nice! They weren’t irritated by the products at all and they haven’t been scratching or showing any signs of itching so they have obviously worked really well for them. They both run around the rugs after though trying to get their own “scent” back and its hilarious to watch! You get a decent amount of product for the price you pay as well. Obviously if you have a big dog you would use way more than me as Muffin & Persie are only small but I used two squirts of shampoo and one big squirt of conditioner so I would say you would get at least 8 uses if not more out of these for £5.99/£6.99 (250ml)!

  1. I really enjoyed these – the scents are great and the squishy packaging made them easy to handle while washing. 🙂 The Rhubarb one sounds lovely!

  5. Super cute review, great to see some more natural products for pets, I know our dogs have very sensitive skin so we have to be careful what we use on them
