I’m off to Amsterdam tomorrow for a short 5 day getaway with Paul. I’m taking a suitcase this time as when we went to Barcelona last year I only took hand luggage & couldn’t buy anything to bring back however I’ve found some green beauty shops that I want to visit so needed a suitcase to lug it all back in! I’ll try not to splurge too much so I have money left for the Field Trip Tour though ;)!
I am hoping the weather is going to be nice – it’s around the same sort of weather that we have here in the UK so it’s pretty unpredictable but I’m hoping for at least a couple of sunny days as we’ll be doing a lot of sight-seeing & walking/biking around the city and rain would just put a downer on that! It rained in Barcelona last year in the middle of August so I’m hoping we have better luck this year!
Thank you to Liz (@WellMeaningBeing), Ineke (@GoGreenBeauty) & Audrey (Mademoiselle Nature) for all the help & advice you’ve given me for my holiday!
I’m not really an overpacker. I’ll try to plan outfits and as I am a huge planner of sight-seeing holidays, I have our itinerary ready so I know what to expect & pack for. I will be packing as lightly as possible and will stick to just a few beauty skincare products to keep my routine to a bare minimum and will be taking make-up that I can use for day and night.
Tili Bags – I love these handy bags, especially for travelling. I keep all of my beauty products in one bag, my make-up in the other etc etc and it just helps to keep me organised so I can spend more time searching the city, rather than searching for my lipstick! They have a zip lock at the top to keep everything secure. I also like to use these for my undies & then I just pop my dirty ones in another bag to keep everything separate! You can get them here from A Beautiful World.
Skincare – Balm Balm Tea Tree Face Balm (Cleanser), The All Natural Face Strawberries & Cream Face Food, Indie Lee Squalane Facial Oil, Bodhi & Birch Neroli Luce Facial Oil, REN Clarifying Toning Lotion, Indie Lee Calendula Eye Balm, The Body Deli Moisturisers, Viridian Coconut Oil, Indie Lee Blemish Stick, flannels & headband.
Body/Hair Care – Deep Steep Honeydew & Spearmint Body Butter (smells so good, thanks Ria!), REN Neroli & Grapefruit Body Wash & Moroccan Rose Otto Body Lotion, (thanks Annie!), Ollie & Max Soaps Vanilla & Coconut Deodorant, Aubrey Organics Rosa Mosqueta Shampoo, Ambiance Dry Shampoo, Freshness of the Morning Replenishing Hair Serum, Acorelle Perfume Samples, Eco Tools hairbrush, comb, hair clips, GHD Straighteners.
Make-up – Madara Tinting Fluid Moonflower, Living Nature Foundation, RMS Un-Coverup, Benecos Blusher, Neve Cosmetics California Bronzer, Willow Tree Minerals Finishing Veil, Logona Eyebrow Pencil, Sante Eyebrow Pencil (for the spoolie), Lily Lolo Eyeshadows, Kjaer Weis Eyeshadow “Wisdom”, The All Natural Face Eyelid Primer, ILIA Moonbeams & Polkadots Highlighter, Living Nature Volumizing Mascara, Eyelash Curlers, La Mav Lipgloss (thanks Inga), Inika Lip Whip, Glam Minerals Lipsuite, Brushes.
Sorry, its the wrong way. Bloggers fault!
Passport, Tickets & Itinerary – We’re flying from Luton airport with EasyJet which was so cheap and it only takes 1 hr 10 minutes so not a very long flight at all! And yes, I am a huge geek & have an itinerary. When I go on holiday to places like this where there is a lot to see, I like to plan so that we get to see it all without getting
too lost! I’ve already pre-booked the Anne Frank House tickets & a walking tour so we get to see lots of the sites all in one tour.
Water – It’s just over an hour on the plane but I’ll still be sure to drink lots of water to avoid getting dehydrated.
Bodhi & Birch Travel Bag – This is so handy as it’s the perfect size to fit all my in-flight essentials whilst being see-through so it’s perfect for security at the airport. I don’t wear make-up on planes so in here I’ll keep:
Lip Balm – I have a lot of lip balms. A lot. But a recent favourite of mine is the Crazy Rumours one in the Amaretto flavour so I’ll be taking that with me to keep my lips soft & smoochy and also the Kivvi Lip Marmalade (thanks Inga!) because it just smells so good.
Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes – I love using these for flights. The pack is really small (only 20 wipes) so it’s really handy to keep in my bag to freshen up my face & hands after/during a flight.
Mendill Wipes – Love using these just to freshen up my hands!
Dr Bronners’ Hand Sanitizer – Public places, airports, planes, toilets, yup gonna need this!
Headphones – Incase they’re any crying babies…or Paul is annoying me & I wanna listen to music. Haha just kidding!
Phone – Obviously have to keep this with me to Snapchat everybody to make them jealous that I’m on holiday! We have free Wi-Fi in the B&B that we’re staying at too so I’ll be updating my Instagram (@amberfelce) with photos from the trip whilst I’m out there.
Suncream – Jason Kids SPF45 is one of my most recent beauty buys. I got it from Lucy Rose when I ordered everything for the S/S Green Beauty Swap as they had 20% off Jason suncreams. I’m hoping for warm weather so I’ll need to use this!
Purse – I got this in TK Maxx and its just the perfect purse for me as I have loads and loads of cards. I just have them for everywhere I visit pretty much…Boots, Superdrug, Tesco, loyalty cards, debit card etc etc! I’ll take all of those out and only take what I need but I love this purse!
Camera – I bought a new camera recently from Very for a bargain price of £99. I’ve been using it to take photos for my blog and also to record my YouTube videos so its come in really handy. I’ll be taking it with me to snap some shots of the gardens & sights we’ll be visiting! I’m also hopefully going to do my first travel vlog of the holiday so keep an eye out for that on my YouTube channel (depends how good it turns out first!)
Tili Bag – I keep a Tili Bag in my handbag with everything in that might come in handy like plasters (lots of sightseeing!), hand sanitizer, refreshing wipes, hand cream & a lip balm. So I’ll take everything out of the travel bag and pop it into one of these to keep everything organised in my handbag.
What tips do you have for packing for short city-breaks?
