Organic Beauty Week Day 6 Brand Focus: Therapi Honey Skincare

Everyone who follows me should know by now that I love bees. Any company that has anything to do with bees, or the conservation of bees are in my good books. I was recently in touch with Therapi on Twitter talking about bees & they very kindly offered to send me some of their products to try, seeing as they are based around honey & they love bees too! I’d heard great things about them from other bloggers so I was so excited to receive a lovely parcel with three of their products inside for me to try.

I normally talk about the company before writing my review but Therapi have written a beautiful story about their company and I wouldn’t be able to make it sound as good so I thought I’d just share that with you instead…

“Our story is one of love, luck and inspiration: a love affair with bees; the luck to meet some very talented people who have helped shape our company; and the occasional spark of genius which has helped us to formulate our range of unique organic honey skincare products.

But mostly it is the story of the bee and its exquisite relationship with flowers. Bees have created the great diversity of flora and fauna of our planet through 100 million years of evolution. They are central to the story of beauty itself, the beauty of our shared home – Earth.

Our company aims are simple: to create the best natural and organic honey skincare products, which benefit not only the user but also the natural world in all its diversity and splendour. To this end, at least 5% of our profits are donated to bee conservation projects”

I LOVE that they donate 5% of their profits to bee conservation as it shows they truly care about saving the bees. Oh and they’re certified by the Soil Association too!

Therapi have three different ranges depending on your skin type: Lemon Myrtle for oily/combination skin, Rose Otto for Normal/Dry or an Orange Blossom range for Normal Skin. Now onto the products:

Lemon Myrtle Honey Gel Cleanser* is a 90% organic, lightly foaming gel wash, made with nourishing honey and natural extracts of yucca to gently cleanse the face and remove impurities. The Lemon Myrtle range contains honey, purifying extracts of citrus, witch hazel and antibacterial lemon myrtle to regulate oiliness and condition the skin to keep skin clear and free of blemishes. You only need one or two pumps of this light, gel cleanser to wash your whole face and you simply remove with warm water. I have to admit, I am not the fondest person of foaming washes however this is so lightly foaming and it doesn’t have a “soapy” feel to it either so I actually really like it & have been using it for my morning cleanse almost everyday. I reviewed a similar style cleanser a few months ago but this one isn’t sticky in the slightest which is why I prefer it. It also doesn’t stay “soapy” for too long meaning it doesn’t have a soapy scent or a sticky feel. I’m not that keen on it having Cocamidopropyl Betaine in the formula as I’d rather not use this on my face but I haven’t had any irritation so it doesn’t bother me too much. This retails for £25.00 for 50ml.

Aqua, Mel (Honey)*, Lauryl Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Gluconolactone, Xanthan Gum, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder*, Yucca Schidigera (Y. Vera) Extract, Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Peel Oil*, Leptospermum Petersonii (Lemon Tea Tree) Oil*, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil*, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil*, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil*, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate, Parfum*, Limonene+, Linalool+, Citronellol+, Geraniol+

*Organic      + Naturally occurs in essential oils

Lemon Myrtle Anti-Bacterial Facial Toner* is a 99% organic blend of astringent witch hazel, purifying extracts of lemon myrtle and grapefruit to help tone and refine skin to help keep it clear and unblemished. I know that looks aren’t everything but I absolutely love the bottle that this toner is in. It’s a gorgeous frosted glass that makes it look so chic and elegant on my dressing table. Not to mention the smell…ahhh the smell! It is so refreshing and uplifting, a bit like lemon sherbet and I absolutely love it.  I started using this just over a month ago and it was during the Beauty Challenge I was doing so my skincare routine hadn’t been that consistent as I was trying to use up half-used up products and it was starting to take its toll. After using this for just a few days, I already noticed a difference in my skin. It looked clearer, brighter and the blackheads on my nose were smaller – even a few that were hard to budge were starting to disappear. This has now become a staple in my routine and is definitely one I will repurchase when I run out.

Hamamelis Virginiana (Witchhazel) Water*, Rosa Damascena Flower Water*, Alcohol*, Decyl Glucoside, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil*, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil*, Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Peel Oil*, Parfum*, Limonene+ *Organic + Naturally occurs in essential oils

The last product but certainly not least is their Orange Blossom Honey Moisturiser* which is a 90% organic cream moisturiser, made with deeply nourishing ingredients such as organic honey, calendula extract, sea buckthorn oil which blended together have the most delicious scent ever. Although this is in their Normal range, it has balancing properties thanks to the botanical extracts of orange fruit and blossom which make it perfect for my skin. Although I have blackheads & get breakouts occasionally, I wouldn’t say I have “oily” skin. This moisturiser smells so lovely and it is quite thick but I just use a small amount and it sinks in quickly, leaves no greasy residue and keeps my dry patches under control. I use this every night and when I wake up, my skin looks dewy, plumped and refreshed! I’ve been using this for over a month now and I’ve hardly made a dent in it!

I also just met Tanya, owner & beekeeper at Therapi at the Whole Foods Beauty Event on Wednesday evening and she was so lovely, it was a pleasure to meet her! We were given a goody bag and inside was this moisturiser too so I’ve passed it onto Paul as he’s been asking me for a moisturiser for ages haha!

This retails for £30.00 for a 50ml jar. I think the prices are on point, the products have been formulated very carefully to perform extremely well and the packaging is just the perfect finishing touch. I love the bee logo on the front of each bottle and the effects of the moisturiser actually remind me of the Dahliana one which costs £65 however this costs just £30 so I think it is definitely worth trying!

Aqua, Rosa Damascena Flower Water*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil*, Polyglyceryl-3 Rice Brannate Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil*, Mel (Honey)*, Lecithin*, Amorphophallus Konjac Root Powder, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder*, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Peel Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Neroli) Flower Oil*, Jasminum Grandiflorum (Jasmine) Flower Extract*, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract*, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate, Parfum*, Linalool+, Limonene+, Geraniol+, Farnesol+, Citral+ * Organic + Naturally occurs in essential oils

  4. Just love the Therapi skincare products. I'm just about to blog about 2 of the toners. They are so fresh and hydrating. I love that the range is gentle yet effective. If you don't really like gel cleansers you may quite like Pinks Boutique's lemongrass cleanser that I have just reviewed on my blog. It is a cream yet you use water to use it. It's like a half way house. I think you'd like it. Smells gorgeous too xx
