I recently won a hand cream from Herbfarmacy through a competition on their Twitter. I was so excited when I received it in the post as I’ve never tried anything from them before and they also kindly sent me some small samples of the Mallow Beauty Balm, Skin Rescue and Muscle Balm.
As part of Organic September & Organic Beauty Week I have been showcasing organic brands and I really wanted to share this brand with you. Most of you will have already heard of Herbfarmacy but in case you haven’t here’s a little bit about them…
Herbfarmacy was created with wisdom, using the knowledge and expertise of botanist Dr Paul Richards, who has been growing organic herbs in Herefordshire for over 25 years. They were recently featured on Countryfile on the BBC which was very interesting to watch as you got to see where the herbs were grown & Paul talked about why they choose specific herbs for different products.
All of their products are ideal for sensitive skin conditions because Paul selects key organic herbs for each product that are deeply moisturising and provide sustained nourishment and protection of the skin tissue.
They are certified by the Soil Association which means that all of their ingredients, when available, are organic and all other ingredients are stringently researched in order to deliver the highest quality products. All of the products are hand made in small batches on site at their herb farm and are the only UK company to do so.
Herbfarmacy buy ethically traded ingredients wherever possible and are cruelty free.
Working Hands Cream is a protective and deeply restoring cream for hard-working hands. It contains comfrey, calendula and marshmallow as well as evening primrose oil, apricot oil, vitamin E, rosehip oil and beeswax. The scent is really relaxing and comforting as it contains essential oils of lavender, rosemary, peppermint and may chang. Sounds amazing doesn’t it? The ingredients are 79% organic too. I have loved using this cream which is just the right consistency and doesn’t feel greasy at all. It’s really nourishing and makes my hands feel really soft. I keep it on my bedside table and use before bed!
Skin Rescue Balm is a 100% organic luxurious herbal balm that works great for moisturising and soothing dry and cracked areas. It is also proven to be very beneficial for eczema or similar conditions and won a Silver Award in the Free From Skincare Awards 2013 for Problem Skin! It contains marshmallow, calendula, chickweed and comfrey as well as sunflower oil, jojoba oil, beeswax and shea butter which are all very nourishing and hydrating ingredients. It is finished off with essential oils of Roman Chamomile, Lavender and Helychrysum which all give it a lovely herbal scent.
Meadowsweet Muscle Balm – is a 100% organic balm and gently warms and soothes aching muscles and joints to relieve pain. Essential oils of Eucalyptus, Pepper and Ginger help to soothe aching muscles along with comfrey (for its cell renewal properties) hypericum (with its analgesic properties) and meadowsweet (that contains salicylates which help to relieve aching muscles). As a keen gym-goer I love using balms after my workouts and used all of this sample up yesterday on my legs & arms after going go-karting on Saturday and the gym on Sunday! It melted into my skin and felt really nice.
Mallow Beauty Balm has been on my wishlist for quite a while as I love balms to cleanse my face. This sample was enough for 2 applications and I left a little in the pot so I could take a photo for my post. It is made (again!) with 100% organic ingredients and includes marshmallow, mullein, calendula and jojoba to soften and deeply moisturise and protect the skin. It is a very rich balm so you only need a small amount and I really liked using this as a cleanser. I’m not sure if it would be too rich for my oily skin now though so I’m glad I got to try a sample!
Have you tried anything from Herbfarmacy? What’s your favourite or what’s on your wishlist?
Ana posted about Herbfarmacy for Organic Beauty Week as well as Evelyn!
