Laughing Bird Face Cream & Body Wash | Beauty Review

I was recently asked if I would like to pick a couple of products from the Baldwin‘s website to try & review for my blog. I had a look through and they have quite a selection of skincare as well as herbal & aromatherapy products. They are actually London’s oldest herbalist and have been purveyors of natural products since 1844.

I had a browse through their website and found a brand that I hadn’t heard of before; Laughing Bird. They are a Welsh brand, making natural skincare products such as shower gels, creams, soaps and body lotions. They are made in a converted stable in the village of Sling, North Wales. They developed their range of products after they started making bespoke creams to order for the customers of G Baldwin & Co in the mid 1980s. They started to get so many orders, they couldn’t simply make up a batch & carry them into work anymore, so things started to get serious & Laughing Bird was born. Their products are made using the best local and home-grown ingredients alongside fairly traded produce to create a truly wholesome range of body care products.

It was their packaging that caught my eye at first; I love the designs of all their labels and the logo, I think it’s really cool & it stands out from the crowd. Then the scents that they use sounded really interesting and quite different from most brands out there. I chose to review their Patchouli & Lime Body Wash* and then any other product which would work well with my oily/combo skin type so I was also sent their Elderberry & Borage Face Cream*.

All natural body wash and face cream from Laughing Bird

I’ll start off with the body wash…it smells absolutely divine! The lime is very strong and wakes me right up. It foams up really well and I only need two pumps on my loofa puffy thing to get a full body cleanse. It has frankincense water which is known for its anti-ageing effects and it is an all-round great ingredient. It isn’t drying on the skin at all and I really like using this in the mornings to wake me up. It only costs £7.99 for a 300ml bottle too and I love that it comes with a pump as it makes it much easier to use in the shower however it needs to be kept upright as it tends to leak when on its side…(I just realised I never took a photo with the pump but it does have one!)

They also make a Lavender & Chamomile scent with Rose Water which sounds lovely & perfect for using at night.

The Elderberry & Borage Face Cream is a light moisturiser, that can work well for morning or night however I prefer to use it at night as I mainly just use an oil in the day. This too, has frankincense in the ingredients so it would be perfect as an anti-ageing face cream. I’m not looking for anti-ageing just yet however it is still a lovely cream to use. It sinks in well and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy at all. I can’t say I’ve noticed any dramatic differences in my skin however my skin is moisturised in the mornings when I wake up & looks plump! I think this would be a really nice cream for mature ladies as I did some research on Elderberries in skincare as I hadn’t really seen that anywhere else & they’re meant to be great for protecting against free radicals & for anti-ageing. Borage is also great for anti-ageing as it has regenerative properties making it great for moisturising skin and keeping it supple. This is also £7.99 and you get a 60ml jar which is a great price.

Overall I’d say Laughing Bird is the brand to look at if you’re looking for cheap but cheerful products or are just getting into natural skincare.

They are available on G Baldwin & Co along with loads of other skincare brands (Green People, Weleda, MyChelle), aromatherapy products & herbs! I had lots of fun looking through their brochure they sent me with my order! I have also ordered some organic herbs from their website to make my own DIY Floral Facial Steam so keep an eye out for that! They also offer free delivery when you spend just £20 and my delivery came in just two days which was great!

Have you tried Laughing Bird before?
