Organic September Day 20: Organic Beauty Week Inlight Organic Face Mask

Inlight Organics have recently  introduced a few new products on Naturisimo so I’ve been testing out their 100% certified COSMOS organic Superfood Face Mask

The Inlight Superfood Face Mask is made with 100% certified organic ingredients, and is a “wonderfully uplifting and rejuvenating face mask to detoxify and repair the skin”. It is packed full of antioxidants and essential fatty acids as well as superfoods such as spirulina and baobab. It is ideal for all skin types, including sensitive skins however it does contain beeswax so it is not suitable for vegans.

Inlight Organic Superfood Face Mask Review

It claims to reduce blemishes & redness, and leave skin glowing and gently exfoliated. I definitely agree with all of these, and love to apply this for 15-20 minutes in the evening to help any blemishes I have. It is an oil based product so you will need a warm flannel or cloth to remove and you may find there is a slight residue left on your skin after, but you can just use a bit of toner on a cotton pad after to rid the residue. However I actually find that because of this, I don’t even need to use an oil or moisturiser afterwards so I tend to skip the toner & the rest of my skincare routine.

“Every Inlight product features The Bio Lipophilic Matrix® – a blend of pure organic, cold-pressed plant oils carefully nurtured for their high biochemical affinity to the lipidic human skin layer, energised prior to production using a patent applied technique that harnesses the principle that all matter is alive (Quantum Mechanics) and ancient alchemy to heighten the oils’ vital force. This enhanced blend of oils forms the basis of every Inlight product.”

The superfoods in this mask include baobab powder, which gently exfoliates, and spirulina which is rich in chlorophyll, to detoxify skin. Barley grass also helps to repair the skin and rose hip stimulates cell renewal and collagen production to plump and refresh. All of these superfoods are blended into the “Bio Lipophilic Matrix” as mentioned above and includes oils such as sesame seed oil, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, jojoba oil, evening primrose oil and frankincense oil.

Inlight Organic Superfood Face Mask Review

The mask itself has a strange consistency; it has an oil base, but it’s sort of like a thick green goo, however there’s also corn starch, potato starch and the superfood powders which add a bit of light scrub to the product and give it a slight gritty texture to stop is just running off your face…however you will want to apply this fairly evenly and spread out, to avoid any dripping down.

Inlight Organic Superfood Face Mask Review

I do really enjoy using this mask though, it smells good – very “green” – and it helps to reduce the redness and size of my spots overnight whilst hydrating my skin at the same time.

I wanted to get a bit more info from Inlight themselves so I did a mini interview with them…

I’ve been trying out the Superfood Face Mask which is 100% certified organic, how important was it to Inlight that it was 100% organic and nothing less?
We know that nature is at its richest when it’s allowed to grow unhindered by fertilisers, pesticides and GM contamination. Organic ingredients means high vital force and energy hence efficacy. Everyone now know that most of what is applied to the skin gets absorbed and this is why we have chosen to only use 100% organic pure ingredients in our skincare.

The use of superfoods for our health is on the rise, do you think it is on the rise in skincare too? How does putting superfoods into skincare, rather than ingesting them as normal, help your skin?

We are much more aware of the lack of nutrients in our daily diet especially in processed food and this is why the so called super-food is so trendy nowadays being rich and concentrated in healthy nutrients. We learn from our medical herbalist formulator that the skin is a proper organ, just like our liver or stomach; therefore it needs protecting and caring just like the other organs. Inlight skincare is highly rich in phytonutrients. By feeding the skin with the right “food” we will – no doubt – keep it healthy and young for longer.

Are you planning to increase the “Superfood” line/Do you have any other products which contain Superfoods too?

Cocoa is a great super food and can be found in our Chocolate Face Mask, It also contains more than 300 skin-loving compounds including: iron, zinc, copper, calcium, magnesium and sulphur.
Our Supreme Eye Serum, Dr. Spiezia’s pride and joy, also contains Spirulina which is a great ‘boost’ for the body with anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing proprieties.

In the pipeline: some skin and hair products with premium super-food so watch this space.

This mask doesn’t come in cheap at £45.00 for a 50ml jar, and it says you get around 10 uses – and you do need to use it up within 4 months – however Naturisimo often have discounts floating around and I think you’d get more than 10 uses out of this! Also, it is 100% certified COSMOS organic, with no water and no preservatives so it’s the best quality out there.
