As today is International Chocolate Day…I thought I would write a post all about organic chocolate…and for research purposes, obviously, I bought a load to try!
I headed to Waitrose and found quite a large selection of organic chocolates. I chose two from Green & Black’s, one from Montezuma’s and a box of Booja Booja truffles.
Green & Black’s are probably one of the most popular organic chocolate brands, and I love their dark chocolate. I bought these new Thin chocolate bars in Mint Crisp and Salted Caramel. They’re much thinner than normal chocolate bars, hence the name, they’re sort of the same as those thin Cadbury bars you had as a kid. The sea salt one is quite salty but it’s really tasty with the caramel too and the mint one is just right, with a hint of crisp to add that something extra. Mint chocolate is one of my favourite along with dark so I picked up the 73% cocoa, very dark Montezuma’s chocolate. This is a bit darker than my normal Bournville chocolate bars however the darker the chocolate is, the better it is for you so I don’t feel as guilty when I have a
whole bar piece.
Finally, onto the Booja Booja truffles…I picked these up because they looked super fancy but they’re a little bit strong for my liking. I gave the Hazelnut ones to Sarah and Katie last night when we were staying in Swindon for the Gorgeously Green Gathering and I had the Rhubarb & Vanilla Fool. It was super tasty and these are dairy free and vegan however it was a little strong for me personally. I haven’t tried the almond one’s yet but I’ll update this once I’ve tried them!
Have you tried any organic chocolates? What are your favourites?
I’ll also be doing a post this month on Raw Halo chocolates…
