Acure Organics were one of the first US natural/organic brands I tried when I went green and now they’re available in the UK at Love Lula and a couple of other green beauty stores. I’ve been trying a few products out so I thought it was time I shared my thoughts.
I had tried their Lemongrass Clarifying Shampoo a few years ago that I bought when I went to Colorado on holiday. I couldn’t really remember how well I got on with it so I decided to give it another go. I’m now reminded of why I didn’t stick to it and repurchase…
I normally use the Faith in Nature Rosemary Shampoo which I personally think is a seriously clarifying shampoo and one of my favourites. Acure’s shampoo however is very thick and heavy in weight and it just seems to leave a layer on my hair. It doesn’t make it look greasy but it feels heavy and I can only go two days without needing to use dry shampoo or wash my hair again. It does smell amazing and it’s nourishing for my hair but it’s just a little too heavy for my hair – I think as I have thick hair it just makes it feel thicker so if you had thin hair, this may be good but unfortunately it just didn’t work for my hair.
Something that did help during the days of trying out their Clarifying Shampoo is their Dry Shampoo. It comes in a plastic tube which makes it super easy to use as you just squeeze the tube and it puffs a bit out through the tiny holes on the top. It’s a white powder and even though I have dark hair, it didn’t show up at all and it was pretty effective and one I’ve been reaching for quite often.
The last product but probably my favourite is the Brightening Face Scrub. It’s a bright green shade and it’s pretty scrubby. It’s one of the most condensed facial scrubs I’ve used actually in terms of how many bits of scrub are in it. It’s more like the texture of a body scrub than a face scrub that usually has just a few bits of grit in them…how many times can I say scrub in one paragraph?! But seriously…I’m loving this scrub at the minute and I use it once or twice a week to rid of dead skin and keep my skin looking clear.
You can buy Acure Organics at Love Lula.
